ASDI workshops: July & August 2003

A series of workshops on the Australian Spatial Data Infrastructure (ASDI) are being held in Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth during August and September this year. ANZLIC – the Spatial Information Council invites you to attend these free workshops.

The workshops are informative and interactive. You will find out about:

  • the future direction and development of the ASDI;
  • what is happening in your jurisdiction; and
  • have the opportunity to have your say in planning future activities.

The ASDI is a national framework for linking users with providers of spatial information. It comprises the people, policies and technologies necessary to enable the use of spatially referenced data through all levels of government, the private and non-profit sectors and academia.

The vision for the ASDI is that Australia’s spatially referenced data, products and services are available and accessible to all users.

To achieve this vision ANZLIC has recently released the ASDI Action Plan 2003–2004, identifying five priority areas for action to ensure the successful implementation of the ASDI. More information about the ASDI is available on the ANZLIC Web Site.

ANZLIC believes that an ASDI is a key element in delivering benefits from collection, management and use of spatially referenced information. ANZLIC also recognises that it is important to identify and engage all stakeholders in the evolution of the ASDI as a national initiative. Implementation needs to be value-driven and cooperative.
