roles & relationships
between the public & private sectors

An important part of establishing a strong and robust spatial information industry is to understand the relevant roles of the public and private sectors. In turn, this understanding should strengthen relationships and focus on using spatial information to improve the social, economic and environmental interests of Australia.

Three peak organisations now represent the spatial information industry in Australia. ANZLIC represents public sector interests, Australian Spatial Information Business Association (ASIBA) represents the commercial interests and the Spatial Sciences Institute (SSI) which represents professionals in the spatial sciences and provides for their professional development.

ANZLIC has prepared a discussion paper Respective Roles and Conduct of relationships between the Public and Private Sectors in the Australian Spatial Information Industry. This paper has been adopted by ANZLIC, ASIBA and the SSI as a basis for further discussion.
